August 07, 2026

Cascale members elect new Board representatives across all three caucuses and approve updates advancing the organization’s broader governance evolution.

Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Oakland (CA) – August 7, 2026: Cascale, the global nonprofit alliance uniting more than 300 members across the consumer goods industry, today announced the results of its 2026 Board of Directors election and member vote on amendments to the organization’s Bylaws.

Members elected three new Directors — one representing each of Cascale’s Brands & Retailers, Manufacturers, and Affiliate member caucuses — and approved governance updates designed to strengthen Board expertise and perspective while maintaining strong member representation.

Key Takeaways

  • Nate Herman, Executive Vice President, American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), was elected to represent the Affiliate member caucus.
  • Abhishek Bansal, Senior Vice President, Sustainability & Innovation, Arvind Limited, was elected to represent the Manufacturer member caucus.
  • Tobias Fischer, Senior Sustainability Adviser, H&M Group, was elected to represent the Brands & Retailers member caucus.
  • Cascale members also approved amendments to the organization’s Bylaws intended to strengthen Board governance, broaden expertise and perspective, and maintain strong member representation.
  • The newly elected Directors will be formally seated at Cascale’s Q3 Board meeting on September 18, 2026, in Athens.

“Cascale’s future will be shaped by the strength of the perspectives around the table. As we map our 10-year vision and strengthen 2030 strategy, Nate, Tobias, and Abhishek bring exactly the kind of practical expertise, credibility, and value-chain insight this moment requires. Their leadership will help us stay grounded in what creates real value for members, ask better questions, and turn collaboration into measurable progress for the industry,” said Ying McGuire, CEO of Cascale.

“This year’s election and member vote reflect the strength of Cascale’s member-led governance and the importance of an engaged membership in shaping the organization’s future. Welcoming new directors with diverse expertise strengthens the Board’s ability to govern with broader perspective, deeper industry insight, and long-term focus. The approved Bylaws amendments also give Cascale a thoughtful path to bring future independent directors — adding complementary experience while preserving meaningful member representation,” said Mallory McConnell, Vice President, Corporate Responsibility Operations at PVH Corp and Chair of Cascale’s Governance & Nomination Committee.

Meet Cascale’s Newly Elected Directors

Nate Herman is Executive Vice President at the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), where he helps steer the association’s strategic plan and oversees its policy, lobbying, and regulatory affairs work. With more than 20 years at AAFA and prior experience at the U.S. Department of Commerce, he brings deep expertise in trade, regulation, corporate social responsibility, and industry engagement. Herman will represent Cascale’s Affiliate member caucus.

“I am continuously encouraged by the progress we’ve made in sustainability and social responsibility, and by the collective commitment to building an industry that works better for both people and the planet. I have also learned that this work is never finished, and that the progress we’ve made has only been possible through collaboration. That’s why I’m especially proud to join the Cascale Board of Directors, a team dedicated to bringing the industry together, tackling shared challenges, and helping to drive meaningful impact,” said Herman.

Abhishek Bansal is Senior Vice President, Sustainability & Innovation at Arvind Limited, where he leads sustainability strategy across climate action, renewable energy, water stewardship, circularity, sustainable raw materials, and responsible supply chains. With more than two decades of experience in sustainability consulting and corporate leadership, he brings extensive experience advancing environmental and social strategies within textile and apparel manufacturing. Bansal will represent Cascale’s Manufacturer member caucus.

“Manufacturers play an essential role in turning sustainability commitments into operational reality, making their perspective critical to meaningful industry progress. Greater alignment across the value chain will be key to translating ambition into measurable outcomes while supporting long-term business resilience. I’m excited to bring that experience to the Board and help strengthen the value Cascale delivers to manufacturers and the broader industry,” said Bansal.

Tobias Fischer is Senior Sustainability Adviser at H&M Group, where he currently advises the Global Head of Sustainability. With more than two decades of experience spanning sustainability strategy, responsible supply chains, and sourcing across Asia, Africa, and Europe, he brings a global perspective shaped by work with brands, manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Fischer will represent Cascale’s Brands & Retailers member caucus.

“For me, meaningful progress is about finding practical ways forward that organizations can confidently adopt and scale across their value chains. As sustainability requirements and stakeholder expectations continue to evolve, no company can solve these challenges alone. Strong collaboration and alignment across the industry will be critical. I’m looking forward to contributing to Cascale’s continued evolution and helping ensure it remains a valuable and trusted resource for members navigating this fast-changing environment,” said Fischer.

Advancing Cascale’s Governance Evolution

Alongside the Board election, eligible Voting Members approved amendments to Cascale’s Bylaws as part of the organization’s broader governance evolution.

The updates are intended to strengthen Board governance, bring additional expertise and perspective into Cascale’s leadership, and clarify key governance provisions while maintaining strong member representation.

The vote builds on governance changes introduced earlier in 2026, including the establishment of the Technical Advisory Council (TAC) and Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council (MAC). Together, these developments are intended to create clearer avenues for technical expertise, member and stakeholder perspectives, and independent insight to inform Cascale’s strategic direction and work.

What Happens Next

The newly elected Directors will be formally seated at Cascale’s Q3 Board meeting on September 18, 2026, in Athens, held in conjunction with the 2026 Cascale Annual Meeting. They will serve a three-year term.

Cascale also extends its sincere appreciation to Harsh Saini and Dr. Delman Lee, whose service on the Board will conclude in September.

Saini has represented Cascale’s Affiliate member caucus and also served as Interim CEO during an important period of organizational transition. Her leadership, continuity, and commitment helped guide Cascale through a pivotal chapter and supported the organization as it prepared for its next phase.

Lee has represented Cascale’s Manufacturer member caucus, bringing a valuable manufacturer perspective to the Board and helping ensure the realities and priorities of producers were reflected in Cascale’s governance and strategic discussions.

Cascale thanks both Saini and Lee for their leadership, service, and continued commitment to the organization and its mission.

Cascale also extends its appreciation to all candidates who stood for election and to Voting Members who participated in this year’s governance process.

Industry Leaders Join New Advisory Council

Cascale’s Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council brings together member representatives and external experts to strengthen engagement, collective action, and industry-wide progress.

July 08, 2026

Cascale’s Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council brings together member representatives and external experts to strengthen engagement, collective action, and industry-wide progress.

Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Oakland (CA) – July 8, 2026: Cascale today announced the establishment of its Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council (MAC), a new governance body designed to strengthen how member and stakeholder perspectives inform the organization’s strategy, engagement priorities, and collective action efforts. By bringing together leaders from across brands, manufacturers, affiliates, and stakeholder organizations, the MAC strengthens Cascale’s ability to convene the industry around shared challenges and accelerate collective action toward climate and social goals.

The inaugural MAC includes member representatives and external experts from organizations including ALGI, bluesign technologies, Centric Brands, CIEL Textile, Crystal International, Dunelm PLC, ITL Holdings Ltd., la Vie en Rose, lululemon athletica, Recover, TAL Apparel Ltd., and the Outdoor Industry Association, alongside additional organizations from across the consumer goods industry. Together, these leaders bring perspectives spanning brands, manufacturers, affiliates, and stakeholder organizations. The Council is chaired by former Fair Wear Executive Director Alexander Kohnstamm.

The establishment of the MAC marks another milestone in Cascale’s governance evolution, building on the launch of the Technical Advisory Council (TAC) earlier this year. Together, these advisory councils create clearer pathways for participation and strategic input, helping ensure Cascale’s work benefits from both technical expertise and broad stakeholder perspectives.

The MAC will provide strategic recommendations on membership engagement, public affairs, and programs that scale collective action across the industry. In its inaugural year, the Council is expected to advise on topics such as improvements to the member experience, strategic guidance for Cascale’s decarbonization work, and other priorities identified by the Council. By strengthening how member and stakeholder perspectives inform strategic decisions, the MAC helps ensure Cascale remains a trusted, representative partner for industry collaboration.

As sustainability expectations continue to increase, effective collective action depends on strong governance, broad representation, and meaningful stakeholder engagement. The MAC provides a structured forum for member and stakeholder perspectives to help inform how Cascale engages its community, advances shared priorities, and develops programs that drive measurable industry progress.

“Strong governance depends on creating meaningful pathways for participation and perspective,” said Nikki Wood, director, governance, Cascale. “The MAC expands how members and stakeholders can contribute strategic insight to Cascale’s work, helping ensure our engagement, public affairs, and collective action efforts remain relevant, representative, and responsive to industry needs.”

“Effective collective action requires more than shared ambition — it requires clear common purpose, based on governance structures that bring diverse perspectives together,” said Alexander Kohnstamm, chair of Cascale’s Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council. “I’m looking forward to helping the MAC create space for thoughtful dialogue and strategic recommendations that strengthen Cascale’s impact across the value chain.”

The establishment of the Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council reinforces Cascale’s commitment to collaborative, transparent, and representative governance. As the organization continues to evolve, the MAC will help ensure that diverse perspectives from across the consumer goods value chain inform the decisions, partnerships, and collective action needed to accelerate meaningful environmental and social progress.

Governance At a Glance

  • Nominate for the Cascale Board of Directors (click here)
  • Apply for the Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council (click here)
  • Why? Shape the future of Cascale and seize one of two distinct opportunities to steward involvement at the highest level of organizational governance.

Cascale has opened two key opportunities for members to help shape the organization’s future: Board of Directors nominations and Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council (MAC) applications. Together, these openings mark the next phase of Cascale’s governance evolution and reflect the organization’s commitment to stronger, more structured pathways for member and industry expertise to inform leadership, strategy, and collective action.

As a global multi-stakeholder nonprofit, Cascale brings together diverse voices from across the consumer goods value chain to advance shared action on climate and decent work. Strengthening governance is an important part of that work. By inviting members to step forward for Board service and MAC participation, Cascale is reinforcing the role of inclusive leadership, practical expertise, and collaborative decision-making in helping the organization deepen impact further and faster, together.

Board of Directors nominations now open

Cascale is now accepting nominations for its 2026 Board of Directors election from May 11 through May 31, 2026. The Board plays a critical role in guiding Cascale’s strategic direction, overseeing governance, and helping ensure the organization remains strong, representative, and effective. In line with Cascale’s current structure, Voting Members continue to elect Board leadership across caucus groups, ensuring balanced representation across the organization.

Senior leaders with strong strategic, governance, and fiduciary experience are encouraged to consider nomination. Candidates should also be committed to Cascale’s mission and strategic pillars: Combat Climate Change and Support Decent Work for All.

MAC applications now open

At the same time, Cascale is opening applications for the Membership & Stakeholder Advisory Council (MAC) from May 11 through June 4, 2026. The MAC is one of two new advisory councils being established as part of Cascale’s broader governance evolution. Earlier this year, Cascale announced that the MAC would be phased in alongside the Technical Advisory Council (TAC), with the MAC focused on membership engagement, public affairs, and our programs to scale collective action.

The MAC is intended to create a more structured forum for member and stakeholder input, helping ensure Cascale’s work continues to benefit from a wide breadth of experience, perspectives, and practical insights from across the industry. Together with the Board, TAC, and time-bound task forces, the MAC is part of a phased approach to strengthening how recommendations, expertise, and member priorities help inform Cascale’s leadership and long-term direction.

Get involved in Cascale’s next chapter

These two opportunities are distinct, but they are closely connected. Board service offers members the chance to help steward Cascale at the highest level of organizational governance, while the MAC will provide a dedicated pathway for strategic member and stakeholder input on membership engagement, public affairs, and our programs to scale collective action. Together, they reflect Cascale’s belief that stronger governance depends on both accountable leadership and meaningful participation.

Members interested in applying or nominating candidates are encouraged to review the requirements and timelines carefully and submit their materials within the application windows. Cascale will continue sharing governance updates, resources, and next steps through Cascale Connect and its governance communications in the months ahead.
