    Position Description

    The Director of Higg Facility Tools will be responsible for managing and updating the Higg Facilities Module: the Facility Environment Module (FEM) and the Facility Social & Labor Module (FSLM) and their suite of resources. The goal of this position is to continue to integrate input of Coalition members, facilities, and stakeholders into the tools and resources through effective engagement and facilitation and to scale the implementation of these tools globally.

    This role requires an expert in project management who is experienced and confident with facilitation of diverse stakeholders perspectives. This role also will require familiarity and experience working with facility environmental and/or social/labor program implementation.

     

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Develop a vision and roadmap for the FEM and FSLM tools, value proposition and their  applications to support the industry’s sustainability goals.
    2. Coordinate industry alignment around the Higg FEM and FSLM frameworks and tools, in order to reduce the duplication of efforts across the value chain to drive adoption at scale
      1. Continue the development of resources that support the global scaling of the Higg Facility tools, including “How to Higg” guidance, training and implementation guides, resources, and translations.
      2. Be Cascale’s lead expert for Higg FSLM & Higg FEM with external stakeholders and partners.
      3. Track and analyze Higg FSLM & FEM adoption data, including the development and review of data exports, internal and member data reporting.
    3. Continue iterating the tools to ensure they are up-to-date and fit for purpose
      1. Facilitate and coordinate Cascale’s member involvement process in order to complement internal expertise in the development of FEM and FSLM tools and programs.
      2. Work closely with Cascale’s technology partner Worldly in the development of the tool on the platform, such as through QA testing and new feature design.
      3. Liaise with the Social Labor Convergence Project (https://slconvergence.org) to support the development of the FSLM tool and CAF methodology.
    4. Leverage the Higg FEM and FSLM to drive industry collective action on foundational environmental performance, decarbonization, and decent work for all.
      1. Track and analyze Higg FSLM & FEM performance data, including the development and review of data exports, internal and member data reporting.
      2. Coordinate development and creation of communications, case studies and white papers on the Higg FSLM & FEM adoption, results and impact.
      3. Identify capability building needs and support in the development of training content related to the Higg facilities modules.

     

    Qualifications

    Ideal candidate has:

    • 10+ years of experience within the apparel, footwear, or home textiles industries including facility engagement and sustainability programs;
    • Experience with multi-layered, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and a solution oriented approach;
    • Strong project management, analytics and leadership skills;
    • Experience in developing and implementing environmental or social sustainability programs at manufacturing facilities in the apparel, footwear, or home textiles industries;
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
    • Experience in consensus building;
    • Strong familiarity with Cascale and the Higg suite of tools with a clear understanding of the difference in approach between Higg and standard audits
    • Experience working with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds
    • Passion for sustainability;
    • BA required, MA Preferred.

    The Opportunity

    Cascale seeks a candidate who is motivated to support the Decarbonization Program – Manufacturer Climate Action Program (MCAP) team. It is a truly exciting opportunity to support the team in driving progress in decarbonizing the apparel and footwear industry. Through supporting the MCAP team, you will be assist the team in rolling out the program right through to program completion and evaluation:

     

    Key Responsibilities & Duties

    Manufacturer Climate Action Program (90%)

    • Work closely with the Manager of Manufacturer Climate Action Program (MCAP) and Senior Director of Decarbonization Team to support the planning, execution and monitoring of program performance
    • Provide recruitment support, onboarding administration and follow up with brands, retailers and manufacturers in MCAP
    • Support creation of surveys, presentation decks, training materials development & delivery, science-aligned target validation process, communication, website update and other collateral materials as needed
    • Monitor and provide help desk support to MCAP manufacturers
    • Provide administrative and logistics support in all MCAP related activities
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on MCAP program development and or other decarbonization  projects.
    • Event support and management: involve in planning and organizing regional and global member events, MCAP events, Manufacturer Forum

    Decarbonization Program & Other Cross-Functional Projects (10%)

    • Work closely with the Decarbonization Program Team and other internal functions to support the planning and execution of other cross functional projects

     

    Education, Experience and Skills Requirements

    The ideal candidate has:

    • Bachelor in environmental science/ environmental & chemical engineering/ environmental technology/environmental management/sustainability related degrees required, Masters Preferred
    • Minimum 2 years working experience in the apparel, footwear and textile industry
    • Good working knowledge of climate science, science based targets initiatives and decarbonization
    • Strong communication and language skills in English and Chinese, ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders
    • Significant experience in Microsoft Office Excel/Google Sheets, plus experience in other Microsoft and Google tools (Word, PowerPoint), GoogleSuite (Docs, Slides), Miro, and Asana experience or possesses the ability to quickly master
    • Good communication, influencing and interpersonal skills with a positive and supportive attitude
    • Ability to work with colleagues in a multicultural, multinational context to collaboratively achieve organizational goals
    • Excellent organizational skills with a strong process driven approach
    • Experience in managing complex projects would be highly valued
    • Prior relevant work experience in a multinational organization is a plus
    • Good computing, data analysis and presentation skills
    • Organized, attention to detail, and ability to execute deliverables in a timely manner
    • High standard of written and spoken English is mandatory
    • Can-do attitude and able to autopilot with minimal supervision
    • Ability to adapt quickly to challenging situations and find innovative solutions
    • Well versed in emissions reduction target setting in line with SBTi’s criteria

    Opportunity

     

    The Manager, Member Engagement – AMER is a crucial role to the organization. A radical change of the industry can only happen if all actors, private and public, work together to make the apparel and footwear industry truly sustainable. It can only happen if civil society identifies Cascale solutions as robust, credible, and trusted.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Regional responsibilities

    • AMER region management – 20%
      • Work closely with the regional lead to implement regionally the global engagement strategy.
      • Track and report members ’KPIs around Members’ status, Higg Index Tools adoption, impact progress, and member engagement activities.
      • Capture and consolidate member feedback to inform the organization and help meet members’ needs.
    • Member engagement (1:1) – 30% time
      • Management of c.40% of AMER region’s corporate members (currently 107 total)
      • Provide insights within the Membership team and other Cascale teams into the AMER membership needs and challenges to drive a better user experience.
      • Advise members in the development of adoption road maps for their organization to ensure sustained use of the Higg Index suite of tools at scale.
      • Conduct regular touch-bases with members to evaluate member progress, deliver guidance, and capture challenges and opportunities.
      • Identify members’ best practices and encourage sharing through case studies, reports, podcasts, and speaking contributions to Cascale-led events.
      • Cultivate a positive member experience from onboarding onward and build substantive relationships to increase member engagement and retention.
    • Member engagement (1:many) – 30% time
      • Support regional strategy by developing and delivering regional initiatives through webinars, group workshops, local events, and peer forums to address AMER members’ obstacles and priorities.
      • Facilitate connection between members to encourage sharing and learning between the member community.
      • Under the oversight of the Regional Lead, the Manager would project manage and lead those initiatives.
      • Represent Cascale at Industry and/or Cascale-led events.

    Cross Team Responsibilities – 20% time

    • Team improvements
      • Inform, initiate, and deliver (as appropriate) opportunities for the team to improve its working methods to deliver its mission.
      • Improve cross-organizational ways of working and breaking down silos through active engagement with other teams.
    • Contribution to Cross-department project
      • Represent the voice of the Member engagement team on organization-wide strategic projects.
      • Liaise with the Marketing-communication team to produce case studies that showcase members’ best practices.

    Qualifications & Experience

    The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience;
    • OR commensurate experience in corporate account and stakeholder relationship management
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent facilitation, presentation, listening, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
    • Capability to work independently while collaborating with staff.
    • Keen attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
    • Require computer and business software expertise, including platforms such as G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CRM (Salesforce), and project management tools such as Asana and Miro.
    • Brand or retailer experience in the apparel, footwear industry
    • Experience with using the Higg Index suite of tools is a strong plus.
