    Position Description 

    The SVP, Impact is a critical role for our organization, industry, and planet. As the climate crisis and the need for decent work advance exponentially, Cascale has prioritized combating climate change and creating decent work for all as priorities across global value chains throughout the consumer goods industry.

    The SVP, Impact will be responsible for strategizing and leading both of Cascale’s impact pillars with a vision of innovation and measurable results. Understanding both the nuances and urgency of the crisis, with expertise and passion for innovative solutions, the successful candidate will also have deep skills in leading high-performing teams, creating and driving strategic plans, collaborating with other organizational areas, and driving successful membership and stakeholder engagement related to promoting our impact programs. The candidate will be committed to creating long-term, sustainable change and will be a key

    partner in positioning Cascale as an industry leader in climate action and decent work.

    Duties & Responsibilities 

    Combating Climate Change – Strategy 

    • Development and implementation of an organization-wide high-impact climate strategy, to enable Cascale and our members to deliver clear and measurable progress in achieving a 45% GHG emissions reduction in line with industry targets by 2030.
    • Develop and lead innovative solutions, tools, and partnerships that drive both industry-wide and  member-specific progress in reducing emissions, with an emphasis on scalable impact, future focused solutions and environmental due diligence to ensure sustainable outcome.
    • Ensuring Cascale has, and is effectively delivering, the right portfolio of climate, activities, initiatives, programs and partnerships, including:
      • Tools and solutions that are fit for purpose, informing action and measuring progress, while integrating environmental due diligence practices to assess and minimize risks o Convening and driving collective action.
      • Capability building, internally and externally to empower members towards impact driven solutions
      • Demonstrable thought-leadership
      • Access to grants and finance initiatives to enable the necessary funding for Cascale and our members, and their business partners, to invest in the solutions needed
      • Policy and advocacy aimed at accelerating climate action at the global and regional levels
      • Effective collaboration and partnerships to ensure sustainable, large-scale impact
    • Internally and externally articulate a clear shared understanding of Cascale’s climate strategy vision, with short term and long term goals and growth plans for each modality of the program, integrating due diligence processes to track and reduce environmental risks and progress towards the 45% GHG emission reduction

    Decent Work – Strategy 

    • Own development and implementation of the decent work strategy focusing on driving systemic  change across supply chains and promoting decent work. The strategy will enable Cascale and  our members to deliver clear and measurable progress in adopting responsible purchasing  practices that address systemic labor issues, reduce audit fatigue, and improve working  conditions throughout the supply chain, particularly at the manufacturer level
    • Ensuring Cascale is effectively delivering, the right portfolio of decent work activities, initiatives, programs and partnerships, including:
      • Tools and solutions that are fit for purpose, informing action and measuring progress responsible purchasing practices that improve working conditions and help reduce unnecessary audits at the manufacturer level
      • Convening and driving collective action among industry stakeholders
      • Capability building, internally and externally to empower members towards impactful responsible purchasing practices that contribute to both reduced audit fatigue and improved conditions for workers
      • Demonstrable thought-leadership
      • Access to grants and finance initiatives to enable the necessary funding for Cascale and our members, and their business partners, to invest in the solutions needed
      • Policy and advocacy aimed at accelerating decent work at the global and regional levels
      • Effective collaboration and partnerships to drive measurable impact in the supply chain  and reduce redundancies in audit processes.
    • Internally and externally articulate a clear shared understanding of Cascale’s decent work strategy vision through Responsible Purchasing Practices, with short-term and long-term goals and growth plans for each modality of the program, including specific goals to reduce audit duplication and improve working conditions at the manufacturer level
    • Drive smart program growth in coordination with cross-functional Cascale teams and organizational leadership ensuring that all strategies promote both improved working conditions and more efficient auditing processes across global supply chains

    Member Engagement 

    • Passionately and professionally represent and drive Cascale’s impact pillars with Cascale’s members, including building relationships at the most senior levels
    • Build a strong knowledge base of combating climate change and creating decent work for all for Cascale and our members
    • Build and maintain relationships with other internal and external experts and other stakeholders— by developing and overseeing convenings, attending external events, etc.—to support the effectiveness of and momentum for the impact pillars

    Industry Leadership 

    • Passionately and professionally represent and drive Cascale’s impact strategy with key identified external stakeholders including building relationships at the most senior levels
    • Become a face and voice publicly for what is needed to meet our industry vision, and be the primary champion for Cascale’s impact strategies, coordinating with Cascale’s Marketing and Communications Team to represent Cascale through public media, including events, interviews, blog posts

    Policy Engagement 

    • Partner with internal and external global policy experts to ensure our team stays at the cutting edge of emerging policy trends, opportunities, and threats – and deepens policy expertise in order to drive bold wins and clear progression across the consumer goods industry within our impact pillars
    • Collaborate with Cascale’s Public Affairs team, members and partners to advocate for, pass, and implement effective climate action and decent work policies, involving policy research and liaising with regional and national staff
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement tool functionality to support upcoming international regulations

    Cascale Team & Organizational Leadership 

    • Member of the Cascale Executive Team
    • Develop internal systems to support the long-term sustainability of the organization • Prioritize opportunities to deliver the most value to employees, members and the industry • Coordinate between teams to ensure we are moving towards our company-level goals and staying on our scheduled timeline
    • Create effective communication channels that produce feedback loops for strengthening our processes, products, and personal development

    Qualifications & Experience 

    The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree, a relevant and Postgraduate Qualification would be an advantage
    • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in strategy development and refinement, with significant experience in the climate & decent work field, preferably in the consumer goods industry
    • Strong complex program management skills, including scoping (goals/outcomes, timelines and work plans, necessary resources), identifying partner roles and responsibilities, and driving implementation of the project to achieve determined outcomes
    • Strong analytical skills, particularly in breaking down complex and ambiguous problems and communicating them clearly and concisely to a broad array of stakeholders
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to build and navigate strong and productive relationships quickly with a diverse group of people
    • Natural curiosity and ability to ramp up quickly in new content areas, leveraging the expertise of others
    • Comfort working in an ambiguous, matrixed environment, where decisions happen fast and we learn by doing and adapt as needed
    • Willingness and ability to work collaboratively, adapt to a dynamic work environment, and navigate complexity to deliver results

    Position Description 

    The Manager, Manufacturer Climate Action Program (MCAP) is a truly exciting opportunity to drive demonstrable progress in decarbonising the apparel and footwear industry. You will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving this capacity building program to accelerate the efforts of apparel, footwear and textile manufacturing companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The program will deliver crucial support  directly working with manufacturers on setting and validating science-aligned targets (SATs) for scope 1 and 2 emissions where they have direct control of their own greenhouse gas emissions. Through MCAP, you will be responsible for taking manufacturers through the following steps from program kick off right through to program completion and evaluation:

    1. Measuring their GHG emissions and developing their GHG inventory
    2. Setting company-wide science-aligned targets for scope 1 and 2
    3. Submit, validate and disclose science-aligned targets
    4. Trainings on communication & disclosure, climate risk & assessment, decarbonization plan and climate finance
    5. Disclosing progress publicly on an annual basis

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

    Program Development (20%)

    • Develop relevant resources and guidance to support manufacturers to measure climate risks and develop decarbonization plans. Provide administrative and technical assistance to manufacturers to commit and disclose their science-aligned targets with companies through webinars, blog posts and virtual community platform

    Identifying and Actively Recruiting Manufacturers in the Program (30%)

    • Actively promote and recruit manufacturing to the program to apparel, footwear and textile manufacturers’ and the  wider community
    • Tracking and reporting their status on a regular basis

    Manage and Execute Program Implementation and Reporting (50%)

    • Develop and implement operational procedures and strategies to execute the program with key program partners
    • Organize and deliver training on how to create GHG inventory in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, educate manufacturers to set their own targets and develop their own long-term climate action plans.
    • Provide technical advisory service and administrative assistance to manufacturers who seek to commit to, and set science-aligned targets
    • Manage the implementation of science-aligned target validation with approved third party organizations to perform technical reviews for participating manufacturing companies on science-aligned target submissions and approval process. Develop and maintain quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the credibility of verification program
    • Support participation of manufacturers in clearly communicating and disclosing these requirements to the MCAP webpage or relevant platform.
    • Encourage manufacturers to develop action plans that describe how they will reduce GHG emissions and achieve their SATs. Coordinate and convene with external industry experts and partners in offering support to manufacturers to implement such plans in the future
    • Measure program success, create and analyze key program impact data and prepare presentations to inform progress to leadership regularly
    • Respond to program enquiries from manufactures and external stakeholders
    • Liaise with internal and external partners across programs and countries

    Qualifications & Experience

    The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • 3-5 years of progressive experience with climate and decarbonization related projects, science-based targets, corporate greenhouse gas management and accounting, corporate sustainability program
    • Hands-on working experience with apparel, footwear, home textiles or consumer goods manufacturers preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Environmental Sciences, Environmental or Energy Economics, Environmental Policy, Environmental Engineering or related area required. Master’s degree is highly preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams of individuals and colleagues
    • Strong project management and analytical skills;
    • Ability to make compelling presentations through PowerPoint
    • Experience working with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
    • Excellent (English) written and verbal communications skills. Candidate who possesses multiple language skills (Mandarin, Vietnamese, Bengali, Hindi) is a plus.
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, database management and internet research
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Team player with strong ability to work collaboratively with others.
    • Highly organized, proactive, and self-motivated approach to work.
    • This position requires travel (30%) for meeting with manufacturers, attending conferences and team or cross functional meetings with colleagues.

    Reporting Structure

    Compensation and Location

    The Cascale offers a compensation package and salary bands are based on country location and aims to be competitive in each market. Actual compensation will also vary depending on factors including (but not limited to) relevant experience and performance. Salary is just one component of Cascale’s Total Rewards package for employees.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Brand & Retailer Member management – 20%
      • Work closely with the Member Engagement and Member Intelligence teams to implement the global engagement strategy.
      • Track and report members’ updates, Higg Index Tools adoption, impact progress, and member engagement activities.
      • Capture and consolidate member feedback to inform the broader Membership Engagement team, organization and help meet members’ needs.
    • Member engagement (one-to-one) – 30% time
      • Management of Brand & Retailer corporate members
      • Help improve the membership experience by collaborating internally with teams to provide insights and feedback for continuous improvement.
      • Help guide members along their Cascale membership journey to ensure they are making the most of their membership, and providing best practices and feedback about Cascale offerings, Higg tools adoption, and more.
      • Conduct regular touch-bases with members to evaluate member progress, deliver guidance, and capture challenges and opportunities.
      • Identify members’ best practices and encourage sharing through case studies, reports, podcasts, and speaking contributions to Cascale-led events.
      • Cultivate a positive member experience from onboarding onward and build substantive relationships to increase member engagement and retention.
      • Drive participation in Cascale-led events, programs, and community groups.
      • Periodically engage with Cascale’s eco-system partners, including Worldly, SLCP, ZDHC, to provide members with a unified experience.
    • Member engagement (one-to-many) – 30% time
      • Support the community strategy by executing strategic initiatives—including webinars, group workshops, local events, and peer forums—to help Brand & Retailer members overcome challenges and drive industry progress toward our two key pillars: combating climate change and ensuring decent work for all.
      • Facilitate connection between members to encourage sharing and learning between the member community.
      • Under the oversight of the Sr. Director, Brand & Retailer Membership, the Manager would project manage and lead those initiatives.
      • Represent Cascale at Industry and/or Cascale-led events.

    Cross Team Responsibilities – 20% time

    • Team improvements
      • Inform, initiate, and deliver (as appropriate) opportunities for the team to improve its working methods to deliver its mission.
      • Improve cross-organizational ways of working and breaking down silos through active engagement with other teams.
    • Contribution to Cross-department projects
      • Represent the voice of the Member engagement team on organization-wide strategic projects.
      • Liaise with the Marketing-communication team to produce case studies that showcase members’ best practices.

    Qualifications & Experience

    The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience; OR commensurate experience in corporate account and stakeholder relationship management
    • Solutions-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent facilitation, presentation, listening, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
    • Capability to work independently while collaborating with staff.
    • Keen attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
    • Require computer and business software expertise, including platforms such as G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CRM (Salesforce), and project management tools such as Asana and Miro.
    • Brand or retailer experience in the apparel, footwear or home goods industry.
    • Familiarity with Cascale and experience with using the Higg Index suite of tools is a strong plus.

    Reporting Structure, Timeline, and Compensation

    This is a full-time role, reporting directly to the Sr Director, Brand & Retailer Membership.  The role has a desired location in The United States.

    Cascale utilizes salary bands based on country location and aims to be competitive in each market. Actual compensation will also vary depending on factors including (but not limited to) relevant experience and performance. Salary is just one component of Cascale’s Total Rewards package for employees.
