    Howard Kwong, Senior Manager, Public Affairs APAC, Cascale

    As Cascale’s Senior Manager, Public Affairs APAC, Howard manages and implements policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement and public affairs strategy for Greater China and the APAC region. Together with the team, he fosters collective action with members, strategic partners and external stakeholders aligned with our PA strategic objectives.

    Howard has advised multinationals and governments at APCO, a global public affairs consultancy in 2016-2023 in Greater China and APAC including VF Corporation, Estee Lauder, Pernod Ricard, Select Florida. Howard served as Executive Officer for the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2009-2013 and provided strategic counsel to Bloomberg, UN Development Program China Office and WHO.

    Howard graduated with a master’s degree in International Public Management at Sciences Po Paris and a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications at Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as a CFA Certificate in ESG Investing.

Colin will deliver a powerful opening address themed “Catalyst for Change.” He will outline his strategic vision for Cascale, emphasizing the urgent need for transformation and our organization’s pivotal role in driving lasting impact within the consumer goods industry.

    Colin Browne is CEO of Cascale, a global nonprofit alliance catalyzing collective action toward equitable and restorative business practices in the consumer goods industry. The organization spans over 300 retailers, brands, manufacturers, governments, academics, industry associations, and NGO or nonprofit affiliates. Cascale’s membership includes apparel, footwear, home furnishings, sporting and outdoor goods, and bags and luggage companies.

    Formerly known as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Cascale owns and develops the Higg Index, used by 24,000 worldwide. Browne has a wealth of global experience in supply chains and both brand and factory management. Prior to joining Cascale, he was Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer of Under Armour, a Cascale member. Browne also served on the boards of the American Apparel and Footwear Association and the World Federation of Sporting Goods Industries; he continues to serve as a board member at Worldly, the leader in environmental and social impact data for the apparel and footwear industry and the exclusive platform for Cascale’s Higg Index tools.

    His business-oriented approach centers on sustainability and his focus at Cascale is scaling supplier-focused initiatives and driving accountability in the consumer goods industry. Along with his passion for supply chains, Colin is a proud husband, grandfather, and father of three children. He resides in the US though can be found internationally, visiting family in the UK, meeting the growing Cascale team and even squeezing in a triathlon.

While continuing to oversee the Membership, Stakeholder Engagement, Collective Action, and Public Affairs teams, as second-in-command at Cascale he is responsible for driving growth of the organization to ensure it can scale impact and deliver value to members. This involves broader strategic development of the organization, including into new verticals / adjacent product categories, development of new revenue streams, and expansions of key partnerships.

    Prior to joining Cascale, Andrew was at amfori, the leading business association for open and sustainable trade, where, as VP Services, he was responsible for global operational activities. In addition to a strategic role in the development of the vision and strategy of the organization, Andrew managed membership services, led the implementation of global social and environmental audit assessments, including launching a pioneering audit integrity program, and also the largest capacity building program of its kind for social and environmental performance in global supply chains.

    Andrew has a degree in philosophy and theology from King’s College London, an MBA with distinction from the University of Exeter, where he was awarded ‘Dissertation most likely to change global thinking,’ and a postgraduate qualification in team coaching, from UWE, Bristol. During his extensive career, including more than 20 years in global textile manufacturing, Andrew has worked for a multi-national corporation, his own consultancy, and more recently in the education and non-profit sectors.
    A highlight of his work and interest is the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, and its philosophy of Gross National Happiness, an alternative progressive values-based model for measuring and guiding economic, societal, and personal well-being. He is currently based in the seaside town of Looe in Cornwall in the Southwest of England.

    Joyce Tsoi is the Senior Director, Decarbonization Programs, Cascale. She leads Cascale’s Decarbonization programs and activities. She works closely with Cascale members and ecosystem partners to integrate sustainability into their business strategies, prioritize actions on climate change, accelerate sustainable environmental and social impacts and transform our industry into one that gives more than it takes- to the people and the planet.

    She brings over 17 years of diverse global industry experience, leading global supply chain sustainability program for multinational companies, driving key corporate and industry-wide sustainability strategies and efforts through the adoption and verification of Higg tools, water and wastewater compliance program, Science Based Targets (SBTs), energy efficiency and renewable energy program across multiple industry sectors including apparel and footwear, electronics, hardgoods, home goods, food and beverage, home goods and toys industries globally. She is also a Honorary Senior Lecturer of the Sustainability Leadership and Governance Program at the University of Hong Kong.

Join us for a session where the Higg Facility team will share insights gathered over the past six months with Higg FEM 4.0, providing manufacturers with valuable comparisons to its predecessor, 3.0. Explore key data points and trends to better understand the evolution of Cascale’s core verification approach. This session is a pre-cursor to a deeper dive into specifics during our workshop later in the day.

    Angela is Cascale Higg Facility Tools Director. Previously, she worked at Cascale brand member Columbia, where she focused on sustainability in the social and labor program. Angela was also responsible for managing Columbia’s supply chain sustainability performance and initiatives. Implementing the Higg Facility Environmental Module was central to Angela’s efforts, from scaling adoption of the tool to integrating Higg FEM into Columbia’s business functions. Angela has been working with the Higg Index since its inception. She brings years of supply chain and industry experience. Angela lives by the mottos, “Make a difference” and “pay it forward.”

The Cascale Decarbonization team presents a comprehensive update on the Manufacturer Climate Action Program (MCAP) to Chinese Manufacturers. Discover the latest advancements and achievements within MCAP, illustrating its effectiveness in fostering collective action and achieving shared sustainability goals. Through engaging demonstrations, learn how Chinese Manufacturers can actively participate in MCAP initiatives and contribute to the global effort towards decarbonization.

 

  • Ringo Yu, Manager, Manufacturer Climate Action Program (MCAP), Cascale

    Ringo Yu is the Manager of Manufacturer Climate Action Program at Cascale. He is responsible for building, implementing, maintaining, and improving this capacity building program to accelerate the efforts of apparel, footwear and textile manufacturing companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As one of Cascale’s key climate action drivers, Ringo delivers crucial support directly working with manufacturers on setting and validating science-aligned targets (SATs) for commitment and disclosure. He is based in Hong Kong.

    Prior to joining Cascale, Ringo was the Senior Manager of Sustainability at Concept4 Limited, where she worked on science-aligned targets (SATs) application for verification, B Corp Certification and EcoVadis assessment and Climate Disclosure Project (CDP)’s climate change survey. He got substantial working experience in sustainability compliance, supply chain sustainability, climate resilience and mitigation, net zero strategy formulation, complex stakeholders collaboration, marketing the sustainability initiatives from various industry sectors, substantial consultancy involvement of sustainability reporting covering the businesses in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Asia Pacific Countries.

    Ringo holds a MSc in occupational safety and health from University of Greenwich. He is an ISSP Sustainability Excellence Associate certified by International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), a Professional Member of World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners (WISDP), an EFFAS certified Environmental Social and Governance Analyst (CESGA®) certified by the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies and a Chartered Sustainable Supply Chain and Logistics Professional (CSSCLP™) certified by Chartered Institute of Professional Certifications.

Cherie holds dual master degree in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering. She has wide experience of environment protection and sustainable development.

    Dr. Delman Lee is currently the Vice Chair of TAL Apparel Limited. He leads TAL Apparel on its long-term strategy and continuous innovations in various aspects of the business.     Eric (Jialin) Wang is the Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager, Primark China. He leads in the implementation strategy and activity plan of the Primark Environmental Sustainability Programme. Join us for an enlightening session open to all attendees on data insights and innovations for Higg FEM 4.0. In this session, our expert Cascale Higg Facilities Team will present data collected since the launch of Higg FEM 4.0, analyzing its effectiveness and impact over the past six months. A local service provider will join to discuss solutions for addressing the most common non-compliance issues identified through FEM data insights. This session will also feature a special presentation by Worldly on the newly launched factory data manager, highlighting its critical role in enhancing transparency and accountability within manufacturing processes. Together, we will explore the strategic directions and advancements we are embracing as we continue to evolve the Higg FEM and Verification.

    Ryan is the Project Manager of Sumerra – the Cascale FEM Verification Program Manager (VPM). He is primarily responsible for overseeing Quality Assurance (QA) activities and the daily operations of VPM work to help ensure the accuracy and credibility of Higg FEM Verification data. Additionally, Ryan played a key role in the early development of FEM 4.0 Guidance and relevant training materials for Verifiers.

Science-Based Target Training
3 1/2 hours

Prepare for a hands-on learning experience with our Science-Based Target Training, a comprehensive 3 1/2-hour session designed to empower participants with essential knowledge and skills for setting impactful, science-based targets.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the Significance: Understand the vital role and advantages of establishing science-based targets in driving global decarbonization efforts.
  • Practical Application: Bring your laptops and get ready for interactive sessions where you’ll develop a greenhouse gas inventory and set emission reduction targets using the SBTi’s target setting tool. Prior to the training, participants will receive a pre-read to prepare for the session.
  • Strategic Positioning: Elevate your strategic positioning by aligning with the increasing demand for global decarbonization efforts. Explore how science-based targets can enhance your sustainability initiatives and set you apart as a leader in your industry.

This training includes captivating presentations by seasoned sustainability professionals, interactive activities, and guided exercises for practical learning. Participants will be expected to take an online exam at the conclusion of the workshop to assess their comprehension and application of the material. A passing rate of at least 70% will earn participants a course certification, validating their mastery of science-based targets. Join us and take the first step towards a more sustainable future.

    Chu Ching is a coordinator of the Decarbonization Program at Cascale. She ensures that Cascale’s collective action strategy and programs are planned, implemented, and monitored, while also collaborating with the program team, Higg Index team, and global membership team to conduct research, respond quickly to member inquiries, and update communication platforms. She is based in Hong Kong.

    Prior to joining Cascale, Chu worked as sustainability development assistant at Allied Sustainability And Environmental Consultants Group Limited. She was specialized in ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) consulting, green building, and decarbonization strategies planning. She graduated with a master’s degree in environmental management from the University of Hong Kong.

    Chu enjoys public engagement that enhances people’ environmental awareness. Besides joining regular beach cleaning, Chu designed and launched an online educational game-based project to educate the public about local agriculture in Hong Kong recently. The program drew 16,000 site visitors in two months and the project was covered by the local newspapers.

    Jacky Wen is a partner from PwC China ESG Strategy and Transformation with over 15 years consulting and industry combined experience.     Joyce Tsoi is the Senior Director, Decarbonization Programs, Cascale. She leads Cascale’s Decarbonization programs and activities.     She brings over 17 years of diverse global industry experience, leading global supply chain sustainability program for multinational companies, driving key corporate and industry-wide sustainability strategies and efforts through the adoption and verification of Higg tools, water and wastewater compliance program, Science Based Targets (SBTs), energy efficiency and renewable energy program across multiple industry sectors including apparel and footwear, electronics, hardgoods, home goods, food and beverage, home goods and toys industries globally. She is also a Honorary Senior Lecturer of the Sustainability Leadership and Governance Program at the University of Hong Kong.

    Ringo Yu is the Manager of Manufacturer Climate Action Program at Cascale. He is responsible for building, implementing, maintaining, and improving this capacity building program to accelerate the efforts of apparel, footwear and textile manufacturing companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As one of Cascale’s key climate action drivers, Ringo delivers crucial support directly working with manufacturers on setting and validating science-aligned targets (SATs) for commitment and disclosure. He is based in Hong Kong.

    Prior to joining Cascale, Ringo was the Senior Manager of Sustainability at Concept4 Limited, where she worked on science-aligned targets (SATs) application for verification, B Corp Certification and EcoVadis assessment and Climate Disclosure Project (CDP)’s climate change survey. He got substantial working experience in sustainability compliance, supply chain sustainability, climate resilience and mitigation, net zero strategy formulation, complex stakeholders collaboration, marketing the sustainability initiatives from various industry sectors, substantial consultancy involvement of sustainability reporting covering the businesses in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Asia Pacific Countries.

    Ringo holds a MSc in occupational safety and health from University of Greenwich. He is an ISSP Sustainability Excellence Associate certified by International Society of Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), a Professional Member of World Institute of Sustainable Development Planners (WISDP), an EFFAS certified Environmental Social and Governance Analyst (CESGA®) certified by the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies and a Chartered Sustainable Supply Chain and Logistics Professional (CSSCLP™) certified by Chartered Institute of Professional Certifications.
